Itinerary Summary: 

Two nights before your departure
  •  6:00pm/7:00pm: Briefing at your hotel in Cusco with your Tour  Guide

Day 1 : Cusco - Tambomachay -

            Pukamarka

 
  • Pick up from hotel at 6.00am
  • 30 minutes drive to the trail head
  • breakfast at trail head
  • 4 hours treking to the lunch
  • 4 hours after lunch to the camp site: Pukamarca 3,800 mts/12,464 ft
  • Fantastic views of the mountains, canyons, lakes , llamas , alpacas.
  • Camp in the local villaje, a chance to meet local people


Day 2 : Pukamarka - Huchuy Qosqo - 

            Lamay - Piscacucho (Km. 82)
  • Breakfast at camp
  • Hiking through the Pumanarca Canyon, a chance to see begonias, kantus flowers, humming birds and a spectacular view of the Sacred valley of the Incas
  • Exploring the Inca Site Huchuy Qosqo (small Cusco city)
  • Lunch at Lamay
  • 45 minutes drive by car to Ollantaytambo
  • Explore Ollantaytambo town, walking on the inca streets
  • 2 hours train ride to Aguas Calientes
  • Over night ** start ( upgrade hotel is available )​

Day 3 : Piscacucho - Hatunchaka 
  • Early morning pick up from hotel 
  • Transfer to km 82/Piscacucho by private transportation (starting point of trek) - 2,720m/18,923ft
  • Start hiking the Inca Trail
we will see: Piscacucho, Qanabamba, Llaqtapata and Willka Raqay
  • Lunch at Tarayoc Village 
  • Camping in Hatun Chaca -3,000m/9,840ft
                        Walking Distance: 12km

Day 4 : Hatunchaka - Pacasmayo
  • 5:30am: Wake up call/breakfast
  • Survive the highest pass on the way to Machu Picchu (Dead Womans Pass) - 4,200m/13,776ft
With incredible views and different ecosystems, flora and fauna which change according to the altitude
  • Camping in Pacasmayo Valley -3,600m/11,811ft
                        Walking Distance: 12km

Day 5 : Pacasmayo - Wiñaywayna 
  • Early wake up call/breakfast 
  • We will visit archeological sites: Runkuragay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, Intipata and Winay Wayna 
  • Camping in Winaywayna- 2,700m/8,858ft
                        Walking Distance: 16km

Day 6 : Wiñaywayna - Machu Picchu
  • 3:30am: Wake up call/breakfast 
  • 5:00am: Start hike to Sungate/Intipunku
  • Guided tour in Machu Picchu City (optional: Climbing Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain depending on availability) 
  • Bus down to Aguas Calientes for lunch 
  • Train back to Ollantaytambo from Aguas Calientes 
  • Bus to Cusco City from Ollantaytambo (dropped off at your hotel or accomodation) 
                       Walking Distance: 5km

* Important Notes *

Inca Trail Hiking Permits:

Due to the Peruvian Government, in order to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu City a permit must be obtained. The Ministry of Culture has set the limit to 500 permits per day. Support staff is included in the 500 permits, meaning that about 200 permits are available for tourist and 300 permits are for porters, chefs and guides each day. In high season ( May, June, July and August ) we reccommend you to book your reservations before January of that year, this will prevent your preferred dates to be sold out. In order for us to purchase your permit from the National Park Office, we need a copy of your passport as well as a deposit that is non-refundable. Passports:

When you arrive at the entrance of the Inca Trail, you must present the SAME passport with which you obtained your Inca Trail permit at the time of booking. If your passport expires before you begin your trek, you must bring the expired passport with you on the trail. If you lose your passport, your Inca Trail permit may be re-issued, but at a fee.

Students:

If you purchased your trek with your International Students Identity Card (ISIC), in order to begin the trek you must provide this card and it must be valid. 

Wayna Picchu & Machu Picchu Mountains:

There is a limit of 400 permits per day to hike Wayna Picchu and Machu Picchu. It is reccomended to reserve your ticket two months in advance if you are interested in hiking these mountains. The cost of the ticket is US$ 65 ( This is added to your initial price of US$ 450 ).

Time slots to Hike Machu Picchu: 7:00am-11:00am
